A-line skirt tested for Deepika

After I got back from holidays in June, Deepika of Pattern Review, asked me to test her new Annika Pattern Review A-line skirt, drafted by Maria Denmark. What you can see below is my winter version of this skirt.
The waistline sits below the natural waistline and was a quick and easy skirt to whip up in an afternoon. Having the waistline sit below your real waistline makes this a very comfortable work skirt. There's no waistband to cut into you if your job is desk-based.

This skirt is made with a woollen houndstooth remnant, is lined and finished with an invisible zip. Simples…

I've already worn this to work twice and it was easy to style this skirt with other work-based clothes. Here's a link to my Pattern Review.

A great skirt. So simple and in a classic style and colour you'll get so much wear from it.

It's a good looking skirt Maria. I agree with your comment about comfort for sitting jobs. Why else do I make so many ponte work garments?

This is a great office basic, and you are right about the waistband/sitting all day comfort issue. The only thing I find is that the two different styles really need completely different tops to each other. The types of tops you wear with a waist-banded skirt do not suit a below-waist, unbanded skirt, and vice versa. Not that this is a bad thing of course, just a good excuse to have a few more tops in the wardrobe :)

Looks great, Maria.
I especially like your boots!

Very nice basic! I agree about the waistband. And mastering how much ease to give yourself depending on waistband height is just one part of the sewing learning curve, I've found.
